Individual Lessons:

Children’s Lessons (30 min)
Dear Parents,

First of all, thank you for entrusting me with a component of your child’s learning; I consider it a privilege to work with early development in music. My approach with young learners is to focus on keeping them engaged and positive throughout the journey. I work with each student to build a curriculum that keeps them inspired and connected, focusing on their relationship to music.

I welcome students of all ages.

Adult / Youth Lessons (45 min)

We structure according to your specific goals. Within a lesson set, you can expect to work on essential vocal warm ups, pitch, tone, breathing, timing and lyric retention. When you are ready, we pick a piece to work on that suits your vocal range and will aim to learn the song to the point where it is “performance ready”. If you have a specific piece to work on for a performance or audition, please let me know when you sign up.

Group lessons

Learning in a group is a great way to explore singing and performance techniques in a comfortable, social environment. You still get individual attention, but with other voices to learn and play with, we can work on harmonies, pitch matching and group performance.

While we explore some more advanced techniques in these classes, they are still great for beginners and structured in a supportive way that allows every level to learn from the class. Group lessons also allow students to commit to their learning at a lower cost than private lessons.

Group sessions are run twice a year and spots fill up quickly. We limit the number of participants to ensure the best experience for everyone. Group lessons are open to students who are 12 or older at the start of the session.

Workshops and Intensives

Specialized workshop with a recital performance at the end. These classes are geared towards folks who have a foundation in performing arts; singers, musicians, musical theatre performers, songwriters, actors and entertainers.

Playa Music teaching phylosophy

The most important factor with any study, is your relationship to the material. Music inspires emotion, creativity and an opportunity for self expression. I like to take a wholistic approach and explore all of these areas, to give students a long term connection to music that can carry over into all aspects of life.

My primary focus is on vocal instruction, performance techniques, audition preparation, piano fundamentals and basic music theory. If you already play another instrument, I encourage you to incorporate it into our lessons together.

Some students are absolute beginners, others are accomplished musicians looking for songwriting and performance coaching. Whatever your background, we can work together to build a curriculum that is specifically customized to your experience and goals.

HEALTH & SAFETY IS A TOP PRIORITY IN MY TEACHING ENVIRONMENT.

ALL SHARED INSTRUMENTS WILL BE CLEANED BETWEEN USES AND EVERY STUDENT WILL WASH THEIR HANDS BEFORE COMMENCING EACH LESSON.

IN ADDITION, I ASK FOR AND PROVIDE TRANSPARENT COMMUNICATION WITH ALL STUDENTS REGARDING HEALTH AND POTENTIAL EXPOSURE.
